:: Interview Tips from: 9to5india.com

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Most interviewers will judge you by their first impression of you: how you look, how you’re dressed, what ideas and attitudes you volunteer. It has been said that a decision in an interview is made within the first ten minutes, so you must make a good first impression.

STICK TO YOUR STRENGTHS AND SKILLS: Stick to your skills: what you have done, what you can do. If you are asked a vague or non-specific question, try to end your answer with something about your strengths and sklls.

WATCH FOR NON-VERBAL RESPONSES: The interviewer shuffles papers; looks away from you; crosses his arms; looks at her watch. DON’T GIVE UP. Now is the time to get in there and fight with some strong, positive strengths, skills and experiences.

HOW TO ANSWER A LIABILITY QUESTION: “You’ve changed jobs often, haven’t you?” “Have you ever been fired?” Answer the questions honestly, but add a positive piece of information. Don’t put yourself down and do not do the same to your previous employer.

ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THE JOB: About the company, how the job fits into the overall company organization, if the company provides in-house or external training, to whom does the position report?

BE CONFIDENT: The interviewers are only human. See them as equals. Remember you want him/her to like you. Make friends with interviers. Always use every question from the interviewer as an excuse for at least one self-sales point. Never give one-word answers. If you have to answer “yes” or “no” always give a reason why you answered that way.

BE PREPARED: Research the company. Look at their web site, check newspaper archives. If possible talk to someone who is already working for the company.
